Emerson Power & Water Solutions is looking for a Field Engineer in Detroit, MI. The role will support customers on the installation, start‑up, and operation of complex distributed control systems, sub‑systems, and control equipment. The field engineer will provide expert support for PLCs and DCS systems, offer engineering advisory assistance, and act as liaison within the company.
In This Role, Your Responsibilities Will Be:- Perform on‑site instruction of customer personnel; write and modify maintenance procedures; conduct quality control tests and product evaluation; provide complete timely reports on all activities.
- Direct personnel engaged in the installation of control systems, sub‑systems, equipment, or routine modification/repair.
- Provide direct engineering advisory assistance to the customer and liaison within the company on equipment issues.
- Cultivate relationships with internal project teams, customer project teams, and contractors.
- Apply advanced troubleshooting, problem‑solving, decision‑making, and planning skills.
- Provide hands‑on training to customers on‑site or during factory acceptance tests (FAT).
- Develop and maintain good customer relations.
- Participate in writing, reviewing, and revising field and operational manuals based on hands‑on work.
You understand the importance and interdependence of internal customer relationships, show initiative in tough situations, and are exceptional at spotting and seizing opportunities. You acquire data from multiple and diverse sources when solving problems.
For This Role, You Will Need:- Bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science, or a similar technical curriculum, or relevant field engineer experience in lieu of education.
- Ability to travel up to 10‑25% for business needs.
- Legal authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship now or in the future.
- Experience with DCS/PLC controls.
- Understanding of basic networking and computer assembly/troubleshooting.
- Experience in the power and water/wastewater treatment industries.
