Sr. Project Manager - Bridges & Structures

As part of a nationwide firm, HNTB Michigan has delivered solutions for significant transportation projects across Michigan and the U.S. We’re looking for a Senior Project Manager to lead bridge and structure design projects for the Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) and other clients.

• Develop the project scope and fee quotation and assist in preparing technical proposals and contracts in accordance with HNTB’s Sophisticated Contracting Approach (SCA).
• Serve as the primary client liaison and manage the project team to deliver scope, schedule, and budgets to completion and to the client’s satisfaction.
• Lead client contract scoping and negotiations.
• Perform technical discipline tasks including analysis, reports, design, specification, and production for assigned projects.
• Implement the firm’s project delivery plan using HNTB’s Sophisticated Delivery Approach (SDA) on each project.
• Lead the development and execution of the project management plan.
• Supervise and mentor team to achieve overall project objectives.
• Oversee project staffing, including recruitment, development, retention, and succession planning.
• Partner with Client Service Leaders and pursuit champions to assist with business development, building client relationships, and pursuit efforts for large projects in accordance with HNTB’s Sophisticated Sales Approach (SSA).
• Prepare appropriate proposal and presentation materials and lead presentations for strategic and large projects.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering.
• 12 years of relevant experience.
• 4 years of successful management of engineering projects.

• Experience with Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) bridge and structure design.
• Strong reputation and client relationships in the Michigan transportation market.
• 15 years of relevant experience in the design of bridges and other transportation structures.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license in Michigan or ability to obtain one within 6 months.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Familiarity with AASHTO Bridge Design Specifications.
• Master’s degree in Engineering.
• Desire to mentor young staff.
