Cooperidge Consulting Firm is on the lookout for an Electrical Maintenance Engineer/Manager for a top Heavy Industrial & Mining flagship facility located in Detroit, MI. This is an exciting opportunity as it is a unique 'succession' role, designed for a seasoned engineer to shadow current leadership and transition into the Maintenance and Reliability Superintendent position within 6-12 months. This vital role will involve the design, modification, and ensuring the reliability of complex industrial manufacturing equipment, focusing heavily on electrical systems.
The ideal candidate will utilize engineering principles to significantly reduce downtime and successfully execute high-value capital projects, all while thriving in an environment known for its resistance to economic changes.
Key Responsibilities- Strategic Reliability: Analyze equipment demands and failures to pinpoint recurring issues and implement engineering solutions to eradicate production downtime.
- Maintenance Strategy: Develop and oversee efficient strategies for equipment use, emphasizing data collection to enhance the Maintenance/Mechanical PM (Preventive) and PdM (Predictive) programs.
- Capital Project Execution: Lead all stages of expense and capital projects - from generating scopes of work and budget estimates to awarding contracts and managing contractor performance.
- Engineering Design: Utilize computer-aided design software to modify existing facilities or develop new plant equipment, taking into account cost, space, and technical feasibility.
- Performance Analysis: Compile and assess operational data to set performance benchmarks for newly modified equipment and identify improvement opportunities across systems.
- Supervision: Direct and inspect contractor work and internal maintenance personnel, ensuring strict adherence to EHS (Environmental, Health, and Safety) regulations.
- Technical Consulting: Provide expert technical guidance on manufacturing techniques and material properties to support long-term plant engineering planning.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Chemical, or Industrial) is REQUIRED.
- 5-15 years of Engineering and Maintenance experience is REQUIRED.
- Strong Electrical experience (High Voltage) in a Heavy Industrial environment is MANDATORY.
- Experience in Manufacturing or Mining (MSHA-regulated environments) is highly preferred.
- CMMS experience and Reliability Certification (CMRP) are preferred.
- Knowledge of mine ventilation, materials handling systems, and shaft maintenance is a plus.
- Familiarity with federal mining laws (
MSHA
) and mining methods. - Ability to work an extended schedule (approximately 55 hours per week), covering first and partial third shifts.
- Ability to climb ladders, crawl, and bend regularly in varying outdoor temperatures.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds routinely.
