Job SummarySenior level engineer responsible for planning and conducting intermediate to more complex engineering related activities requiring the use of creative techniques, as well as application of thorough knowledge of engineering or scientific principles and practice in multiple areas. Incumbents have the authority to make decisions on engineering problems and methods applicable to the resolution of important issues, which may be complex ticipates on and leads teams, as well as develops effective relationships with key decision makers, as needed.
KeyAccountabilities
- Applies strong knowledge and background of engineering and scientific principles and practices in a variety of assignments.
- Develops, coordinates, and directs critical projects or field engineering assignments that are large or complex.
- Leads or plays key role on process improvement teams.
- Initiates or performs engineering studies, proposing solutions or recommending alternatives.
- Develops presentations of engineering-related projects to stakeholders.
- Develops models and analyzes data to support improvement programs, techniques and solutions.
- Conducts studies and analyses to assist in the resolution of engineering-related issues; may assist with developing engineering standards and practices.
- Mentors and provides guidance/direction for less experienced engineers.
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology and a minimum of 6 years of job relevant experience.
- Master's Degree in Engineering or job relevant discipline.
- Professional experience in one or more of the following areas:
Advanced Distribution Management Systems (ADMS), Outage Management Systems (OMS), SCADA, and Geographic Information Systems (GIS). - Strong working knowledge of ADMS architecture, support models, and databases, including application change management, roles and permissions, integrations, configurations, incident response, and remedy ticketing.
- Experience with monitoring, troubleshooting, and performing application failover functionality for ADMS applications.
- Strong technical acumen in Distribution Management System (DMS) functions and platforms.
- Experience with end-to-end network model maintenance, including changeset promotion processes for substations, feeders, and SCADA points. Skilled in validating and updating connectivity models based on as-built documentation and GIS extracts, applying change sets to core systems, and resolving data errors in network models and SCADA configurations.
- Experience working with the GIS team to validate and update the distribution network model via the changeset promotion process using GIS extracts.
- Experience in rectifying data errors in the network model and SCADA configuration and providing timely and sustainable solutions.
- Knowledge of electrical operations, distribution systems, and data management.
- Experience collaborating with cross‑functional teams, including the System Control Room, IT, and Engineering.
- Experience in maintaining and updating procedures.
- Utility experience.
- Strong understanding of the electrical system.
- Proficiency in computer applications relevant for field.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
- Developed planning and continuous‑improvement skills.
- Strong time management, prioritization, and organization skills.
- Well‑developed communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to lead cross‑functional teams.
