Description
As an Amazon Robotics Solutions Design Engineer, you will collaborate with a talented team of engineers in designing and developing robotic fulfillment systems worldwide. The ideal candidate has a strong background in high-performance physical systems, technical problem solving, project management, and internal motivation to deliver results in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment. Key Responsibilities- Invent, design, and implement engineering solutions to complex material flow/transformation and human/machine efficiency problems across the Amazon supply chain.
- Manage and coordinate design and innovation efforts to develop optimal solutions for the fulfillment and transportation network, including equipment specification, material flow, process design, site layout, and intellectual property considerations.
- Collaborate with internal teams to deliver high‑quality, cost‑effective solutions in tight time frames.
- Simultaneously manage and support multiple projects and tasks while influencing, negotiating, and communicating with internal and external stakeholders, contractors, and vendors.
- Provide technical guidance for large‑scale engineering projects.
- Evaluate and create physical processing and material storage solutions using modern technology, robotics, and data analytics to meet performance requirements.
- Identify and analyze key operational and financial metrics to support program selection and drive informed decisions.
- Coordinate and collaborate with systems and operations engineering teams to develop product features and optimize the performance of AR Sort Centers.
- Develop models as required to solve complex engineering problems.

About the TeamThe AR Sortation Solutions Vertical delivers and maintains high‑performing package sortation solutions throughout the network. The team collaborates closely with customers and other verticals, core engineering, and organizations—including Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Tech Ops, GSS, Manipulation, Mobility, Core Software, Deployment Engineering, World Wide Design Engineering (WWDE), Sort Tech, and Construction. With several new sortation solutions achieving GA status over the past three years, AR Sortation focuses on maintaining existing systems, roadmap delivery of new improvements, and new product initiatives ranging from incremental to ambitious.
BasicQualifications
- 5+ years of design/innovation, research & development, manufacturing, process, industrial engineering, or related experience.
- Experience managing engineering design projects.
- Master’s degree in Engineering (any domain) or a related field.
- Knowledge of system architecture, optimization, system dynamics, system analysis, statistical analysis, reliability analysis, and decision making.
- Experience with complex automated material handling equipment, packaging technologies, and high‑speed manufacturing.
- Experience with design‑in‑safety and process design based on Lean principles.
