As the automotive industry moves toward larger, more integrated, and high‑resolution displays, we seek a technical expert who can connect our cutting‑edge OLED solutions with our strategic OEM & Tier‑1 partners. This high‑impact role places the incumbent at the core of the automotive product‑development lifecycle. Samsung Semiconductor is looking for a Senior Technical Resident Engineer to act as the primary technical point of contact for our OEM & Tier‑1 customers.

The Engineer will be embedded within the customer’s ecosystem, ensuring seamless integration of our display systems into next‑generation vehicle architectures. This position is more than a liaison; it is a technical problem‑solver who understands both the “bits and bytes” of display electronics and the rigorous quality standards of the automotive sector.

Location:

Onsite presence at our Detroit / Warren, MI location in alignment with our Flexible Work policy with flexibility for remote or hybrid work arrangements where feasible. Ability to work on‑site with customers; however, we support reasonable accommodations to promote work‑life balance.

Principal Engineer.

What You’ll Do
  • Serve as the dedicated technical expert‑on‑site via remote collaboration tools, providing real‑time support and fostering strong relationships with OEM engineering teams.
  • Onsite Technical Leadership
    - Guide the technical execution of OEM programs through critical phases (APQP, PPAP, DV/PV testing), ensuring deliverables meet automotive timelines while respecting diverse work styles.
  • Milestone Management
    - Diagnose and resolve complex hardware and software integration issues on test benches and prototype vehicles using automotive diagnostic tools, leveraging the strengths of a diverse team.
  • Troubleshooting and Analysis
    - Deliver regular technical status updates to internal and customer program managers, promoting transparent alignment on project goals and issue resolution.
  • Reporting and Communication
    - Deliver regular technical status updates to internal and customer program managers, promoting transparent alignment on project goals and issue resolution.
  • System Integration
    - Oversee integration of automotive display modules into vehicle electrical architectures, ensuring compatibility with power, data, and mechanical constraints and accommodating varied accessibility needs.
What You Bring
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • ≥5 years experience in automotive electronics or the display industry.
  • Background in program management or systems engineering.
  • Experience with LCD/OLED automotive displays.
  • Demonstrated experience providing technical support to OEM or Tier‑1 customers.
  • Experience with OEM programs (e.g., GM, Ford, Stellantis).
  • Knowledge of automotive processes such as APQP, PPAP, DV/PV.
  • Strong troubleshooting and communication skills, with an emphasis on clear, inclusive language.
  • Understanding of vehicle electrical architecture.
