Controls & Automation Engineer Specialist II
Location:
Comstock Park, MI, United States.
Employment Type:

- Lead, support, implement, and manage automation projections while driving innovation.
- Design, develop, and implement automation cells; drive standards across North America.
- Assist in mechanical‑electrical design, installation, and training of receiving plant staff.
- Provide ongoing support for robot cells.
- Lead and mentor other integrators as a subject‑matter expert.
- Manage projects from technical specification to startup support.
- Design and develop electrical control systems, equipment, and programming using Lear standards.
- Write, implement, and debug PLC software.
- Develop contingency and disaster recovery plans.
- Support install, launch, and production of all cells.
- Support implementation of proven and newly developed advanced automation.
- Robust programming to increase equipment uptime without continuous intervention.
- Document and apply control standards to develop requirements for automated cells.
- Travel within North America up to 50% of time.
- Expertise with RS Logix 500/5000, Factory Talk HMI, Baluff I/O link, and programming.
- Fanuc programming or basic understanding of robotics.
- Knowledge of safety standards (OSHA 1910, ANSI/RIA 15.06, etc.) and ability to communicate them.
- Experience supporting risk assessments on all automated equipment.
- AutoCAD experience and ability to read electrical drawings.
- Coordinate and manage control systems.
- Communicate with external manufacturing systems / MES.
- Experience with Atlas Copco Tools Talk programming and interface with torque tools.
- Experience with controls and programming servo‑driven equipment.
- Basic experience with vision systems for robot offsets.
- Develop and complete automation risk assessments.
- Knowledgeable in MS Office.
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical or software engineering.
- 3‑5 years’ experience in a similar role.
- Automated Guided Vehicles (AGV/AMR) experience.
- Drive innovation with new advancements in industry.

- Work with multiple assembly plants and integrators.
