Inside the Role
This role is responsible for developing innovative propulsion technology solutions, with a primary focus on testing and validating electrified and conventional axle components and systems, and for developing, validating, and sustaining complex powertrain components and systems that set industry benchmarks for performance, efficiency, cost, reliability, and safety.
Responsibilities- Develop, validate, and sustain complex powertrain components and systems.
- Analyze mechanical axle products and components, such as hypoid and helical gearsets and heavy‑duty rear axle housings.
- Support product development, evaluate lifecycle reliability, and collaborate with marketing and design teams.
- Analyze failure rates and lifecycle durability, recommend design/test changes, and identify cost‑saving and efficiency ideas while maintaining reliability.
- Create project plans and timelines, assist management with budget requirements, and lead cross‑functional activities across Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, Sales, Purchasing, and Global Suppliers.
- Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- 5 years (60 months) of relevant industry experience.
- Experience developing heavy‑duty truck front and rear axle components and systems.
- Experience with heavy‑duty commercial vehicle design, analytical problem solving, design of conventional and electric axle components, electrical and conventional heavy‑duty vehicle development, analytical failure analysis, and data management systems.
- High‑Voltage Training Level 3 certification with practical experience.
- Domestic and international travel required, up to 20% per year.
- Position is hybrid: office work in Detroit, MI, 13400 Outer Drive West; employee must live within reasonable commuting distance.
- Annual salary of $125,000.
- Annual bonus program.
