Akkodis is seeking a full-time Vehicle / System Integration Engineer - ADAS to join our dedicated team while supporting our automotive manufacturer in the Detroit Metro area. You'll be working collaboratively within a team focused on integrating advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) into production vehicles, this role supports the development of instrumented vehicles used for testing, validation, demonstrations, and data collection.
Ideally, the qualified engineer must possess strong hands-on electrical and system integration engineering mindset (EE architecture) combined with a structured, documentation-driven approach while supporting build-up of measurement vehicles
.
Will be responsible for designing and implementing vehicle integration solutions
, including sensor systems, measurement equipment, electrical architectures, and wiring schematics. The role also includes development of Bills of Material (BoMs), coordination of equipment procurement, and tracking of instrumentation assets, ensuring all required hardware is defined, ordered, and available for vehicle build and operation.
Starting Pay Range:
Up to $140,000/yr (pay commensurate based on experience and education levels).
- Review and understand system and vehicle integration requirements and propose appropriate technical solutions.
- Develop and maintain electrical schematics and wiring diagrams for sensors, ECUs, measurement systems, communication networks, and supporting hardware.
- Support design and integration of vehicle communication networks (CAN, Flex Ray, Ethernet), ensuring proper signal availability and system compatibility.
- Define and implement vehicle measurement and instrumentation solutions, including integration of data logging systems, Vector and ETAS tool chains, and Linux- and PC-based platforms (including ROS environments).
- Develop power distribution concepts and detailed schematics, including wire sizing, fuse protection, load management, and integration of programmable power control elements (e.g., timed-delay circuits and solid-state switching devices), applying electrical fundamentals (current draw, voltage conversion, DC-DC systems, wire selection) to ensure robust and safe vehicle-level integration.
- Develop and maintain detailed Bills of Material (BoMs) for vehicle integration projects, including sensors, wiring components, measurement equipment, and supporting hardware.
- Generate cost estimates and support technical evaluation of components and alternative options.
- Coordinate quoting, ordering, and procurement of hardware, licenses, and vehicle components; track integration assets and inventory to ensure traceability and availability.
- Support resolution of part availability and lead-time challenges with suppliers.
- Provide technical documentation and work instructions for vehicle teardown, wiring modifications, sensor installation, and cable routing; collaborate with lab technicians to ensure builds align with engineering intent.
- Support integration of sensor systems, ground-truth equipment, and measurement hardware within the vehicle environment.
- Support vehicle sensor and systems bring-up and debugging, including ECU/SOC communication checks, DTC analysis, signal verification, and measurement validation.
- Lead system-level troubleshooting and root cause analysis across vehicle electrical systems, communication networks, and instrumentation to resolve issues during build, bring-up, and operation.
- Create and maintain integration documentation, including schematics, BoMs, and work instructions.
- Ensure accurate tracking of vehicle configurations, hardware usage, and system setups, and contribute to improving integration processes and documentation standards.
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (preferably), Automotive, Mechatronics, or related engineering field.
- Ideally, 3++ years of professional experience.
- Strong technical communication skills
, with the ability to convey issues, risks, and timelines and effectively collaborate across teams. - Demonstrated hands-on experience in vehicle or system-level integration (EE architecture), including…
