Job Description SummaryWorking onsite with the Project Team to plan, develop, coordinate, and manage onsite construction engineering activities for Industrial projects – primarily Water/Wastewater Treatment plant construction, but also factories/production facilities and data centers. Focused mainly in Northern Virginia, the District of Columbia (DC), and the Baltimore area.
Responsibilities- Manage project engineering and related personnel functions, including planning, administration, work assignments, and disciplinary actions.
- Ensure project engineering activities comply with company and contract requirements and support the overall construction schedule (Primavera P6).
- Provide technical support for construction planning and design; interpret designs; apply construction methods; resolve and document design conflicts; conduct contractibility reviews.
- Develop, implement, and administer project engineering procedures and other work-controlling documents (submittals, RFI’s, expediting material deliveries, subcontractor/vendor and owner pay requests).
- Represent the company, project, and/or department during A/E, client, and project management meetings.
- Interface with on-site departments to resolve problems and ensure construction quality in support of the project schedule.
- Oversee pre-construction services, design-build services, and business development for the project.
- Collaborate with the Superintendent to control job costs and production budgets.
- Prepare and submit monthly cost, income, and cash flow projections.
- Execute and approve subcontractor requisitions and vendor invoices.
- Coordinate, price, and assist Project Manager in settlement of change orders and claims.
- Respond to issues promptly; proactive in problem solving; manage multiple tasks.
- Maintain organized project correspondence files and ensure subcontractor insurance certificate compliance.
- Perform additional assignments as directed by a supervisor.
- Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management, or equivalent technical training and related experience. - Experience:
5+ years of similar construction engineering experience on Heavy Industrial projects. - Skills:
Advanced knowledge of construction engineering technology, codes, and standards; strong understanding of interdependencies between functional units. - Communication:
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to manage a team of varied disciplines. - Licensing:
Professional Engineer (PE) registration is preferred but not required.
