DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES- Split time and responsibilities between field assignments and office assignments.
- Lead portions of technical project work from project scoping through final deliverables under the direction of senior staff.
- Apply academic and industry knowledge, as well as learnings from prior work experience to execute project work.
- Provide training, guidance and informal mentoring to junior staff on their projects and within your technical discipline.
- Under the direction of senior staff, participate in communications with client, agencies, and internal teams within your discipline.
- Oversee geologic site characterization including subsurface explorations, monitoring well siting and construction, soil vapor probe installation, field sampling and waste management.
- Support and lead project teams with the interpretation, evaluation, and summarization of geologic data to make decisions for the project.
- Independently complete basic geologic data reduction, summarization and synthesis and provide project teams with concise summaries that include evaluation and proposed next steps.
- Perform all work in accordance with company and client Health & Safety protocols.
- Demonstrate the company's foundational safety behaviors.
Minimum skills and requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Geology, Hydrogeology or related field.
- 4+ years of related experience.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; must be proficient at writing technical reports that meet project requirements.
- Able to work independently on individual tasks and manage multiple projects or tasks simultaneously.
- Desire to learn and grow in your profession, demonstrate a positive attitude, strong work ethic, resourcefulness, flexibility, and ownership.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite software.
- Able to meet the physical requirements of the position: lift 50 lbs., traverse unstable/sloping sites and landscapes, work outside in a range of weather conditions, and have the stamina for moderate physical activity for the majority of field working hours.
- Able to travel to work locations that may require overnight stays.
- Master's degree in Geology or related field.
- Professional certification or plan to obtain professional certification, as applicable to the discipline.
- Experience with developing conceptual site models.
- OSHA 40-Hour HAZWOPER training and refresher updates.
- MSHA Training.
The salary range for this position in Ann Arbor, MI is $65,000 - $80,000 annually. Actual compensation will be based upon a variety of factors such as education, related work experience, certificates, skills, and current market conditions.
