About the Role
Katzkin Automotive Leather is seeking an experienced Seat Trim / Installation Engineer to support OEM and aftermarket seating programs. This position combines engineering expertise with hands-on seat trim development, leather seat cover installation, craftsmanship evaluation, and production launch support. You will work closely with design, manufacturing, quality, suppliers, and customers to deliver exceptional fit, finish, and functionality.
Responsibilities- Develop and support leather seat cover installation processes for OEM and aftermarket programs.
- Evaluate seat trim fit, finish, craftsmanship, and manufacturability.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to achieve premium appearance and quality standards.
- Review patterns, sew lines, attachment methods, and material performance.
- Resolve seat trim, assembly, and production issues during prototype and launch phases.
- Support DV/PV builds, prototype builds, craftsmanship reviews, and production launches.
- Develop installation procedures, work instructions, and process standards.
- Ensure compatibility with airbags, seat heaters, ventilation systems, occupancy sensors, and seat mechanisms.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on quality, efficiency, and customer satisfaction.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field.
- 5+ years of automotive seating system experience with an OEM or Tier 1 supplier.
- Strong knowledge of seat trim systems, leather seat cover installation, and attachment methods.
- Understanding of fit and finish standards, craftsmanship evaluation, and production assembly processes.
- Ability to read engineering drawings and CAD data.
- Strong problem-solving, root-cause analysis, and communication skills.
- Experience with premium leather seating systems.
- Knowledge of seat airbag integration requirements.
- Experience with CATIA, NX, or similar CAD software.
- Familiarity with DFMEA, GD&T, APQP, and PPAP processes.
- Vehicle launch and pilot production experience.
- Pay: $95,000 to $125,000 annual salary range.
- Compensation is based on experience, skills, and qualifications.
- Final pay rates will be determined by management based on demonstrated abilities and job-related experience.
