Dart can offer a mid or senior level Engineer role based on the successful candidate's qualifications. This position is onsite 5 days per week with typical hours of 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday - Friday.

What You'll Do
  • Lead and oversee site’s environmental efforts, including inspections, monitoring, testing, reporting, and auditing, to assure regulatory compliance with federal, state, and local environmental laws, site’s permits, and Dart Environmental Policies.
  • Assure site has all required environmental permits and registration; and that they are kept current.
  • Work with the Site EHS Manager and Corporate EHS Support staff to respond to regulatory issues and obtain needed permissions and permits.
  • Set up systems to assure compliance with all EHS regulatory requirements including air, water, soil, waste, and other environmental areas as needed.
  • Responsible for preparing and submitting, after internal review, all required environmental reports to local, state, and federal agencies.
  • Provide EHS Training.
  • Develop procedures, work instructions and visual standards as needed to drive improvement and ensure implementation.
  • Work with other groups, including production, maintenance, and engineering groups, to oversee and help assure all required monitoring, inspections and recordkeeping is occurring and ongoing compliance is maintained.
  • Manage and prioritize projects, systems, or programs focused on reducing the company’s environmental, health, and safety risks.
  • Participate in, and provide technical support for environmental, health, and safety evaluations, investigations, audits, projects, and remediation.
  • Lead and/or support site wide efforts related to the company’s initiatives and programs such as recycling, greenhouse gas inventories, and waste and resource minimization.
  • Troubleshoot, analyze, identify, evaluate, propose, implement, and document engineering and regulatory solutions to environmental issues.
  • Determine testing requirements needed to meet regulatory requirements. Specify test parameters, help develop test plans and either implement or select testing firm, coordinate testing requirements with production and regulatory agencies to demonstrate compliance, and draft or review and then submit reports to regulatory agencies.
  • Establish continuous improvement plans in the areas of efficiency, quality, safety, environmental compliance, or service can be improved.
  • Understand, support, and follow management expectations in alignment with company values.
What You'll Bring
  • A Bachelor of Science Degree and 5 years of experience related to site environmental compliance. (Bachelor of Science degree or equivalent in chemistry, biological sciences, environmental science, or relevant related field and at least three (3) years of related engineering experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.)
  • Experience overseeing and implementing environmental compliance, preferably at a Michigan based facility.
  • Willingness to be hands on.
  • Experience obtaining required permits and setting up efficient systems to meet regulatory and permitting requirements.
  • Experience in setting up compliance systems including monitoring/inspection and documentation systems.
  • Experience interpreting environmental compliance including air, water, and waste management, and how it applies to the company’s processes and equipment.
  • Experience setting up monitoring systems and implementing compliance-based auditing.
  • Ability to successfully prioritize, and manage large, complex projects, deadlines, and tasks with little supervision in both team and independent environments.
  • Excellent verbal and written skills necessary in order to persuade and influence decision making of individuals, groups, or work teams, and to explain difficult issues.
  • Prefer procurement experience to include development and implementation of environmental services contract.
  • Work is split between an office environment, production facility, and/or warehouse depending on the project.
