Their land development team supports a broad mix of projects, including commercial, retail, office, residential, mixed-use, education, healthcare, and senior living developments, with in-house capabilities spanning site planning, utility design, grading, paving, stormwater management, permitting, feasibility studies, traffic-related design input, and sustainable site strategies.

They are known for a collaborative and cross-functional approach, working closely with developers, owners, architects, municipalities, and internal technical teams to move projects efficiently from concept through approvals and into delivery. They also maintain multiple offices across Michigan, including Detroit and Grand Rapids, giving them strong regional coverage and local market visibility.

Role Overview

They are looking to appoint a Land Development Project Manager to lead and grow a portfolio of civil land development work from either their Detroit or Grand Rapids office. This person will take ownership of project delivery while also playing a visible role in client management, business development, and team leadership. The position is suited to someone who can manage complex engineering efforts with minimal oversight and who is comfortable balancing technical execution with commercial responsibility.

The successful candidate will help drive work across a range of active and emerging sectors, with particular relevance to education, healthcare, assisted living, commercial, retail, and office development. There is also clear scope for longer-term progression within their business for someone who can combine technical credibility with leadership and market-facing capability.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead land development projects from early planning through design, approvals, and delivery, coordinating engineers, designers, and other internal stakeholders
  • Manage project financial performance, schedules, resourcing, and quality standards to ensure successful outcomes for clients and their wider team
  • Oversee multidisciplinary collaboration with owners, developers, architects, municipalities, and approval agencies throughout the life of a project
  • Support business development efforts by strengthening existing client relationships, identifying new opportunities, and contributing to proposals, presentations, and interviews
  • Help plan team workload, forecast upcoming needs, and maintain a delivery structure that supports both budget and programme commitments
  • Represent them externally through networking, industry events, public meetings, and broader community engagement
  • Mentor, develop, and support junior team members while also contributing to hiring and team growth where needed
  • Contribute technical oversight on core land development elements such as site planning, utility design, grading, paving, stormwater systems, permitting, and related approval processes

Education and Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline
  • Professional Engineer (PE) licence in Michigan required
