Sales Engineer

My client is a custom automated machinery, tooling and systems provider. They design and manufacture custom automated assembly equipment and machines for automation customers in various industries including plastic assembly and automotive.

Due to growth with the business, they are currently looking for a Sales Engineer / Manager to join their team. The successful candidate will have previous experience within automation sales, this could include Automation Machinery (infrared welding / hot-air-cold-stake / ultrasonic welding / fastener driving systems / assembly cells / robotic integration / CNC), Plastic Assembly or diversifying into new automation markets like medical / consumer products etc.

The Salesperson needs to be able to hit the ground running, you will speak to the customer, understand their problem and suggest the right solution. Meet with the customer, understand their pain-points and understand how we can solve their problems, discuss with our technical team and then present this solution back to the customer.

Size of sales will vary but would likely be between $250K - £2M in value.

This is a full-time, direct hire role, based out of Detroit Metro (hybrid working possible).

• Independently develop and grow new business opportunities within automation and assembly segments, in both automotive and non-automotive markets.
• Support R&D engineering in translating customers' needs into a feasible product
• Work with internal teams to accurately quote new business
• Follow up on ongoing projects and report any related issues and customer requests to the management team
• Monitor business trends, market intelligence, customer attitudes, competitive practices, and product performance characteristics to effectively be able to communicate the state of the business

• 8+ years of experience in automation and assembly sales, specifically surrounding our core technologies. Preferably with knowledge of - Infrared Welding, Hot-Air Cold-Stake, Ultrasonic Welding, Assembly Cells, and Robotic Integration.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills
• Ability to take initiative and work independent

• $95K - $120K basic + commission
