Manufacturing Engineer
5+ years of manufacturing engineering experience in automotive (seating preferred).
The Manufacturing Engineer develops, plans, and launches manufacturing processes for automotive seating products. This role supports new program launches by designing efficient production systems, improving processes, and ensuring safety, quality, cost, and delivery goals are met. The engineer works closely with Product Engineering, Quality, Production, Purchasing, and suppliers to deliver reliable and optimized manufacturing solutions.
Key Responsibilities- Lead manufacturing process development from concept through production launch.
- Create process flows, work instructions, PFMEA, control plans, and standardized work.
- Design assembly processes for seat structures, foam, trim, mechanisms, and final assembly.
- Specify, source, and validate equipment, tooling, fixtures, and automation.
- Support equipment installation, commissioning, and production readiness.
- Conduct process capability studies and ensure quality requirements are met.
- Support APQP activities including PFMEA, Control Plans, Run-at-Rate, and PPAP.
- Drive continuous improvement for safety, quality, productivity, and cost.
- Analyze manufacturing data to identify optimization opportunities.
- Support ergonomic assessments and implement safety improvements.
- Work with suppliers to ensure tooling and equipment meet specifications.
- Participate in DFM reviews during product development.
- Troubleshoot manufacturing issues during prototype and production phases.
- Manage project timelines, budgets, and deliverables.
- Ensure compliance with customer requirements, IATF 16949, ISO 14001, and company standards.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial Engineering, or related field.
- 5+ years of manufacturing engineering experience in automotive (seating preferred).
- Experience supporting new product launches.
- Knowledge of APQP, PPAP, PFMEA, Control Plans, MSA, and SPC.
- Experience with Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma.
- Strong understanding of assembly processes and ergonomics.
- Experience with automated equipment, robotics, and poka-yoke systems.
- Proficiency with CAD software (CATIA, Solid Works, AutoCAD, etc.).
- Strong project management and problem‑solving skills.
- Excellent communication and cross‑functional collaboration abilities.
