Patch Management Engineer
Strategic Staffing Solutions is currently looking for a Patch Management Engineer for a W2 contract opportunity in Detroit, MI! Patch Management Engineer
Location:
Detroit, MI - Hybrid schedule (In office Tue, Wed, Thu) Duration: 12+ month contract with eligibility for renewal. Role Type: W2 contract
Required Skills:
Knowledge of OT systems (DCS, SCADA, PI), experience with patching tools, understanding of cybersecurity requirements, strong communication and documentation skills
Position Summary
Responsible for planning, coordinating, executing, and validating patching activities across OT systems, including control systems, PI infrastructure, servers, and workstations, ensuring compliance with cybersecurity standards and maintaining system reliability.
Key Responsibilities:
Coordinate patch schedules with stakeholders, communicate with engineering, operations, and site leadership, obtain approvals prior to patch execution
Identify and evaluate applicable patches, assess system compatibility and operational risk, perform scans to determine patch requirements
Apply approved patches to servers and workstations, place systems in maintenance mode as needed, follow approved procedures for deployment
Verify system functionality after patching, ensure systems return to full operational state, perform post-patch validation scans
Maintain patching records and checklists
Support system upgrades and antivirus updates, assist with backup and recovery processes
Work with IT, cybersecurity teams, and vendors, coordinate patching during outages and maintenance windows
Key Success Metrics:
Timely patching within compliance windows, minimal operational disruptions, accurate documentation and audit readiness
