AEW North America is seeking a Product Engineer to support the design, development, validation, localization, and production launch of automotive seat comfort products.
The Product Engineer will collaborate with AEW’s global engineering teams, North American customers, suppliers, and manufacturing facilities to ensure products meet technical, quality, cost, timing, and customer requirements. The ideal candidate has strong automotive product-development experience and is comfortable working in a fast-paced, multicultural environment.
Bilingual proficiency in Mandarin Chinese and English is preferred.
Key Responsibilities- Lead product design and development activities from concept through production launch.
- Translate customer requirements into clear product and engineering specifications.
- Coordinate engineering activities with Program Management, Sales, Manufacturing, Quality, Validation, Purchasing, suppliers, and customer teams.
- Conduct design verification, tolerance stack-up analysis, and drawing reviews using GD&T principles.
- Create, review, and manage 3D CAD models and 2D drawings using CATIA, Siemens NX/UG, or similar software.
- Ensure designs and drawings comply with AEW, customer, and applicable industry standards.
- Support customer meetings, technical design reviews, engineering presentations, and problem-solving activities.
- Prepare and manage Engineering Change Requests (ECRs), engineering releases, and related technical documentation.
- Track engineering deliverables and ensure completion according to approved program timing and the master project plan.
- Support North American supplier sourcing, technical feasibility reviews, and localization activities.
- Identify and recommend product improvements related to performance, quality, manufacturability, weight, and cost.
- Lead or support root-cause analysis and corrective actions for design, validation, manufacturing, and customer issues.
- Maintain accurate engineering records and provide regular updates regarding progress, risks, and escalation items.
- Develop and review Design Verification Plans and Reports (DVP&R).
- Coordinate testing activities and follow up on test failures and unresolved validation issues.
- Provide technical direction and feedback to AEW’s global design, validation, and manufacturing teams.
- Support DFMEA, DRBFM, tolerance analysis, design reviews, and other product-development activities.
- Support prototype builds, manufacturing trials, product launches, and PPAP documentation.
- Participate in customer, supplier, and manufacturing-site visits as required.
- Maintain customer portals and engineering documentation when assigned.
- Perform other engineering duties necessary to support product development, validation, launch, and customer communication.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Experience in product design, development, validation, or manufacturing engineering.
- Working knowledge of engineering drawings, GD&T, tolerance analysis, and design-release processes.
- Experience with 3D CAD and 2D drawing software, preferably CATIA or Siemens NX/UG.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and technical documentation skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet program deadlines.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively with customers, suppliers, manufacturing facilities, and international teams.
- Bilingual proficiency in Mandarin Chinese and English.
- Automotive industry or Tier 1 supplier experience.
- Experience with automotive seating, seat comfort systems, thermal systems, electronics, or related components.
- Familiarity with APQP, PPAP, DFMEA, DRBFM, DVP&R, 8D, and root-cause analysis.
- Experience supporting automotive OEM or Tier 1 customer programs from development through production launch.
- Familiarity with customer engineering portals and change-management systems.
Occasional domestic and international travel may be required for customer meetings, supplier visits, manufacturing trials, testing, and product launches.
This position requires regular collaboration with colleagues and customers across North America, China, and other global locations. Some meetings may be scheduled outside normal business hours to accommodate international time zones.
