Automation & Mechatronics Engineer, Mechanical Engineer, Manufacturing Engineer
If you can turn complex automation challenges into practical, buildable equipment, we want to meet you.
About the Position:We are hiring a Senior Mechanical Engineer to help design, improve, and deliver sophisticated automated machinery for high-volume manufacturing environments on our team in Jackson, MI.
This is an opportunity for a hands-on machine designer who wants more than a CAD-only role. You will build new equipment, upgrade existing systems, partner closely with controls and manufacturing teams, and see your designs move from concept to production, installation, and real-world use.
Our equipment combines conveyors, pneumatics, mechanical systems, packaging automation, and electromechanical integration. We need an experienced engineer who can bring sound judgment to complex design problems, work independently, and communicate effectively across the business.
Key Responsibilities:- Design new machinery and modify existing automated equipment using 3D CAD, currently Solid Works.
- Own mechanical and mechatronic design work involving conveyors, pneumatics, mechanisms, packaging equipment, and custom assemblies.
- Partner with electrical and controls engineers to ensure designs fully accommodate hardware, interfaces, and operational requirements.
- Support manufacturing and assembly during initial builds, troubleshoot practical design issues, and help drive continuous product improvement.
- Improve designs, bills of materials, documentation, quality standards, and cost performance.
- Help coordinate mechanical engineering workloads, mentor teammates, and raise the bar for design execution.
- Occasionally support customer-site measurements, integration, installation, or troubleshooting.
- Bachelor of Science in Engineering or have equivalent, highly relevant years of hands-on manufacturing experience.
- Significant hands-on experience designing industrial machinery or automated equipment in a 3D CAD environment.
- Strong Solid Works proficiency, or comparable experience in a mainstream 3D mechanical design platform.
- Direct experience with packaging equipment, conveyors, material handling, automation, pneumatics, or related mechatronic systems.
- The ability to collaborate productively with controls, electrical, manufacturing, assembly, service, and commercial teams.
- An OEM equipment-manufacturing background and practical experience supporting designs through build and release.
