Osborn Engineering is seeking an Associate Director of Water Resources in our Pittsburgh, PA and Detroit, MI locations who will report to the Director of Water Resources and is able to prepare engineering calculations, draft construction plans, and manage projects with communications and design coordination.

Osborn is a fully integrated multi-disciplined design firm that uses a specialized team approach to engineering projects. These teams are comprised of a staff of 390+ plus professionals that provide designs for all phases of a wide range of projects. Osborn has specialists in civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection and life safety, technology engineering, transportation, and commissioning. Osborn’s strength lies with its people. Our civil engineering practice includes design projects in diverse markets including site development, redevelopment, public utilities, water resources, sports facilities, broadcast infrastructure, master planning and pavement management. This position will work closely with the managers, directors, and engineering staff to ensure that our client’s needs and expectations are exceeded. Main responsibilities include project management client management, project design, permitting and plan review submittals, and plan preparation.

Position Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage site development design projects on time, in scope, and on budget.
  • Manage professional service contracts.
  • Prepare contract proposals and project budgets.
  • Monitor project health and compile project status reports.
  • Manage project invoicing and accounts receivable.
  • Prepare and manage subconsultant agreements.
  • Develop and foster client relationships.
  • Maintain positive relationships with external consultants and internal engineering managers and directors.
  • Maintain a strong understanding of regional regulatory agencies and permit requirements.
  • Direct and coordinate land development and environmental resource permitting.
  • Manage design projects with multi-discipline engineering staff and manage the civil engineering delivery for multi-disciplined engineering projects within Osborn.
  • Implement effective Company’s quality assurance and quality control programs.
  • Find solutions to complex engineering and personnel situations.
Job Requirements / Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering PE License in Pennsylvania or Michigan.
  • 10+ years of relevant civil and site development design experience.
  • Civil engineering calculation experience (stormwater, potable water hydraulics, sewer and storm hydraulics, hydrology)
  • Analysis software experience (ICPR, BMP Trains, HEC-RAS, WaterCAD, AutoCAD Civil 3D).
  • Ability to coordinate work on projects within a multi-disciplinary team with minimal oversight.
  • Ability to lead and manage several projects concurrently.
  • Ability to foster culture.

  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Related degree from an ABET accredited university or college
