Lead
Resource Manager to join our team at the
GM Factory Zero Complex
located in
Detroit, MI.This individual will support the Resource Management program emphasizing environmental compliance, solid and hazardous waste management, recycling, waste reduction, and spill response activities.

Job Duties:
- Identify, characterize, and prepare profiles for waste and recyclable streams to ensure proper disposition; update profiles and amendments as needed.
- Obtain required signatures from GM Environmental Engineer and GM Management designee for waste documentation.
- Review and prepare LDR (Land Disposal Restriction) forms and update annually.
- Maintain and update EPC
002 and Waste Characterization Binders to reflect current conditions. - Submit revised waste shipment data to WCS when necessary and manage waste and recyclable shipments and IFS jobs.
- Ensure vendors are GM and MPS approved before material is shipped.
- Organize and store all documentation (shippers, manifests, inspection logs) in designated binders and electronic systems.
- Perform and document weekly inspections of satellite waste areas and 180-day rooms; update electronic templates with accurate data.
- Coordinate sample analysis with GM-approved laboratories; prepare and maintain Chain of Custody forms and analytical logs.
- Interpret analytical results to properly characterize waste streams.
- Manage water sampling program, including documentation and tracking.
- Maintain adequate stock of drums, pails, boxes, and other containers in assigned buildings.
- Provide proper labeling and visuals for satellite and waste storage areas.
- Immediately correct non-compliance issues (e.g., open or unlabeled containers) and follow up to ensure resolution.
- Prepare and deliver training for plant personnel on environmental awareness, job-specific instructions, and annual DOT/RCRA/SPCC refresher courses.
- Attend required annual RCRA/DOT/HAZWOPER training and computer-based modules.
- Actively participate in audits and inspections by GMAS, MPS, ISO
14001, MDEQ, EPA, and other regulatory agencies. - Support waste minimization and landfill-free initiatives, including recycling programs, segregation efforts, and ISO procedure development.
- Provide data for scorecards and participate in HMCC meetings as needed.
- Assist with annual waste budget forecasting and vendor PO requests.
- Review and process vendor invoices accurately.
- Comply with all plant safety guidelines and environmental regulations.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in environmental or science field program.
- Minimum of two years related experience in waste management.
- Strong knowledge of government, environmental, and DOT regulations.
- Must be willing to be on call 24/7.
- Ability to use and create Excel, Word, Outlook, and Power Point applications.
- Ability to effectively present information.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Current 40-hour Department of Transportation (DOT, desired); will provided upon hire.
- Current 40-hour Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response (HAZWOPER) with Annual Refresher (desired); will provided upon hire.
- Current Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA, desired); will provided upon hire.
