Tax Attorney – Corporate & M&A

We are seeking a Tax Attorney to join our Corporate & M&A practice. This attorney will support and advise clients on a broad range of tax planning and tax controversy matters, including federal, state, and local disputes, administrative proceedings, and tax‑related issues that arise in transactional work. While there is no requirement to bring an existing book of business, candidates with a portable book of business are encouraged to apply.

Key Responsibilities
  • Represent clients in federal, state, and local tax audits, examinations, administrative appeals, and other disputes.
  • Manage communication and negotiations with the IRS and state and local taxing authorities.
  • Develop and implement strategies for resolving tax controversies.
  • Partner with the Corporate/M&A team on tax issues related to structuring, diligence, deal documents, and post‑closing matters.
  • Conduct research and prepare memoranda, protest letters, ruling requests, and other written analyses.
  • Advise clients and colleagues on tax planning matters and tax return positions.
  • Advise clients on tax compliance, exposure assessments, and risk mitigation strategies.
  • Manage client relationships, ensuring timely communication, and delivering clear, concise, and actionable advice on tax planning and compliance.
Qualifications
  • J.D. from an accredited law school.
  • 5+ years of transactional tax experience demonstrating strong expertise.
  • CPA or LLM (in taxation) preferred but not required.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
