Tax Japanese Business Network (JBN) Intern – Winter 2026 – Detroit, MI.

At PwC, our tax services team focuses on providing advice and guidance to clients on tax planning, compliance, and strategy. In this role, you will review and analyze financial data, prepare and file tax returns, and assist businesses in meeting their tax obligations while minimizing risks of non‑compliance.

Opportunity

As a Tax JBN Intern you will immerse yourself in the dynamic world of tax compliance, gaining hands‑on experience in preparing tax documents, conducting research, and supporting client engagements. This role offers a unique chance to develop your skills in accounting practices and financial statement analysis while working alongside professionals who will guide you through the intricacies of PwC’s methodologies.

Responsibilities
  • Support tax compliance processes by assisting in the preparation and filing of tax documents within the Japanese Business Network.
  • Participate in corporate tax planning activities to optimize tax positions for clients.
  • Conduct tax research to provide accurate and up‑to‑date information on tax laws and regulations.
  • Dramatically draft tax documents necessary for filing, including income statements and tax returns.
  • Monitor and analyze financial trends to identify opportunities for improving margins and profitability.
  • Assist in regulatory compliance consulting by advising on policies and procedures to meet current requirements.
  • Engage in project management tasks to achieve project goals within specified time frames.
  • Collaborate with teams to conduct financial audits and reviews, ensuring adherence to accounting principles.
  • Analyze financial statement data to assess the health and performance of businesses.
  • Prepare tax documents by analyzing paperwork to identify potential deductions or liabilities.
  • Support client interactions by actively listening and communicating effectively to address their needs.
  • Learn and apply accounting practices to maintain accurate financial records and reports.
  • Observe and participate in professional work environments to gain exposure to PwC practices.
  • Contribute to team success by performing basic tasks and conducting research as needed.
What You Must Have
  • Currently pursuing or have completed a Bachelor's degree in Accounting.
  • Eligible to sit for the CPA exam in the intended state of employment before starting full‑time at PwC.
  • Business‑level fluency in Japanese and English, with the ability to read, write, and speak both languages in a professional setting.
  • An overall GPA of at least 3.0.
  • Typically in the third year of a four‑year program or the fourth year of a five‑year program at the time of application (for winter internships during the spring semester preceding the final year).
What Sets You Apart
  • Preference for an overall GPA of 3.3 or higher.
  • Demonstrated enthusiasm for learning and gaining exposure to tax practices.
  • Experience supporting teams with basic tasks in tax compliance and preparation.
  • Participation in projects related to corporate tax planning and regulatory compliance.
  • Exposure to accounting practices in a professional environment.
  • Skills in drafting and preparing tax documents.
  • Excellent communication and active listening within team settings.

Salary and Benefits

Salary range: $29.25 - $48.00 per hour (for roles based in Maryland; actual compensation will depend on skills, experience, qualifications, and location).
