Job Summary
Assistant Chief Financial Officer responsible for safeguarding facility assets and ensuring the integrity and accuracy of financial statements in accordance with GAAP. Oversees compliance with financial policies, effectiveness of internal controls, and overall financial governance.
Position SummaryKey member of facility leadership team. Partners with CEO and A-Team to develop and execute strategic and financial plans. Maintains strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external regulatory bodies. Collaborates with CFO to support the hospital's mission, vision and goals while focusing on patients, physicians, employees, volunteers, and community as customers.
Responsibilities- Financial Performance & Planning
- Analyze daily operating results to ensure revenues, expenses, and labor within budgeted objectives; advise department heads and administration of needed changes and improvements.
- Drive productivity and length of stay initiatives to optimize operational efficiency, resource utilization, and financial performance.
- Develop and manage annual budgets, forecasts, and cash flow plans (including rolling forecasts).
- Provide accurate, timely financial reporting and analysis.
- Controls & Compliance
- Maintain strong internal controls, financial systems, and recordkeeping.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, GAAP, and company policies.
- Promote ethical financial practices and audit readiness.
- Revenue Cycle & Operations
- Oversee/manage revenue cycle performance, including denials management, reimbursement, charge capture, and collections.
- Partner with stakeholders to improve financial and operational outcomes.
- Capital & Investment Management
- Evaluate capital projects and business opportunities, assessing financial impact and ROI.
- Manage capital deployment in alignment with financial plans.
- Strategic Leadership
- Partner with executive leadership on strategic initiatives, growth opportunities, and financial planning.
- Analyze new business opportunities, including managed care contracts and program expansion.
- Judgment & Execution:
Deliver consistent financial performance, maintain strong controls, and adapt to market dynamics. - Strategic Partnership:
Act as trusted advisor to CFO, contributing to growth, cost management, and long‑term strategy. - Financial Influence:
Translate complex financial concepts into actionable insights across all levels. - Operational Rigor:
Set clear financial targets, monitor performance, and drive accountability. - Talent Development:
Build and develop high‑performing finance teams, ensuring strong succession pipelines.
- Experience
- 5+ years of progressive financial leadership experience; healthcare/hospital experience required.
- Strong background in financial operations, planning, reimbursement, and capital management.
- Demonstrated success improving financial performance in complex environments.
- Experience with managed care contracting and regulatory compliance.

- Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting required (or Business degree with Accounting/Finance focus or a CPA).
- MBA, MHA, and/or CPA strongly preferred.
