The Loan Clerk supports the lending department by providing exceptional service to members and ensuring accurate and efficient processing of consumer loans. This role is responsible for managing loan inquiries, maintaining loan documentation and reports, handling communications, and assisting with loan origination, servicing, and audits. The Loan Clerk plays a key role in maintaining compliance with regulatory requirements while promoting credit union products and enhancing the member experience.
EssentialFunctions

- 1. Assist members and team members with loan inquiries, maintenance, and changes.
- 2. Manage incoming calls, text messages, emails, and voicemails for all lending inquiries including titles, debt protection, payments, etc.
- 3. Maintain reports for the department as needed including but not limited to first time auto loans, anti-theft devices, vehicle titles, loan refinances, maintenance, and debt protection.
- 4. Assist members with anti-theft device installations from ordering and scheduling to finalization and member access.
- 5. Manage vehicle titles in the paper and electronic form to ensure lien placement.
- 6. Perform loan audits to ensure the accuracy of documents and system verification.
- 7. Ensure loan policies and guidelines are maintained.
- 8. Track adverse actions letters to sustain compliance.
- 9. Originate, process, close, and service consumer loans as needed.
- 10. Contact members to relay their final loan decision.
- 11. Cross-sell additional products and services.
- 12. Comply with BSA and other applicable regulations.
- 13. Maintain knowledge of One Detroit Credit Union’s products and services, operational policies and procedures, by-laws, and philosophy.
- 14. Adhere to the credit union’s dress code policy and demonstrate professional, business-like appearance.

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Physical DemandsThis is largely a sedentary role; however, some filing is required.
This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand on a stool as necessary.
This is a full-time position. Hours worked are not to exceed 40 hours.
TravelNo travel is expected for this position.
Required Education, Experience, & Skills- 1. High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
- 2. One to three years of related experience.
- 3. Advanced computer literacy (i.e. Word, Excel, Adobe, and online platforms).
- 1. Bachelor’s degree in related field.
- 2. Previous experience at a financial institution and/or consumer loans.
