Seasonal Tax Associate
** W2 contract, Jan 2027 – May 2027**

ONSITE out of Downtown Detroit, MI

This opportunity is a Seasonal Tax Associate for their team, expected to support high volume family tax season from January 2027 – May 2027. This is an ideal position for either a seasoned candidate who has strong Tax background and is open to seasonal work in a Family Office, or an entry level Tax Accountant with a year of season under their belt.

The Tax Associate is responsible for supporting the tax team in delivering tax compliance and consulting services to all family members. The Tax Associate will prepare federal and state income tax return reviews, quarterly tax projections, and various tax summary reports for tax planning projects. The ideal employee for this position will be a self-starter who takes a proactive approach to their work and collaborates effectively as a team player.

Responsibilities:
  • Prepare books and records and compile tax information for the federal and state returns for partnerships, trusts, individuals, and corporations
  • Prepare tax return audit calculations for individual and trust tax returns
  • Coordinate with our vendors to deliver tax information for the various family members and related entities
  • Complete tax-related research and special projects
  • Assist with federal and state audits and tax notices
  • Support multiple tax projects, identify issues, and communicate progress to manager
  • Manage routine family member or vendor tax questions and work with other team members for tax return completion and compliance
  • Maintain and comply with the highest degree of professional standards, family member confidentiality, and personal conduct
  • Exhibit knowledge of accounting principles and tax regulations affecting each family member, and have the ability to build upon base-level knowledge previously learned
  • Assess current company’s best practices and be curious to improve efficiencies
  • Coordinate internal filing of all tax returns, including federal and state returns for partnerships, trusts, individuals, and corporations
  • Responsible for the treasury function (Northern Trust money movement) of the tax team, including tax payments for the family and related entities
  • Provide white glove service to family members, which includes communication with family members as well as office administrative responsibilities
