A great UHY client is seeking a hands-on Finance Manager / Controller to perform and lead accounting, financial reporting, and business intelligence activities within a highly collaborative and mission-driven organization. This role will oversee financial operations, regulatory reporting, treasury activities, audit coordination, and executive-level reporting while helping enhance the organization’s analytics, dashboarding, and business intelligence capabilities.
The Finance Manager / Controller role is based in Farmington Hills, MI, requiring approximately 2–4 days per month onsite. - Oversee financial reporting, general ledger, budgeting, and month-end close activities
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and variance analysis
- Support treasury operations, cash management, and cash flow forecasting
- Coordinate external audits, regulatory reporting, and compliance activities
- Prepare and review financial statements and regulatory filings
- Develop executive-level dashboards, business intelligence reporting, and data analytics tools
- Translate financial and operational data into actionable insights and trend analysis
- Prepare reporting materials and presentations for executive leadership and Board committees
- Support internal controls, process improvements, and financial policy development
- Partner with external vendors, stakeholders, and third-party service providers
- Supervise finance staff and support operational continuity within the department
- Insurance accounting, reporting, or insurance controllership experience required
- Strong analytical and business intelligence capabilities required
- CPA preferred
- 5–8+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience
- Experience with financial reporting, audit coordination, and regulatory compliance
- Experience with executive-level reporting and Board presentations
- Experience with Power BI, Tableau, or similar data visualization tools strongly preferred
- Advanced Excel and financial analysis skills
- Strong communication, collaboration, and executive presence
- Ability to thrive in a collaborative, highly visible environment
