Information Systems Security Officer; ISSO

CGS Federal (Contact Government Services) is seeking an Information Systems Security Officer (ISSO) with DIACAP and/or RMF experience, specializing in security assessment documentation to support Department of Commerce systems and achieve Authorization to Operate (ATO). This full-time position is located at the Herbert Hoover building in Washington, DC, and involves managing the full lifecycle of Assessment and Authorization (A&A) through all 6 steps of the RMF process in support of the Government ISSM.

The role includes conducting security assessments and providing oversight activities in accordance with NIST 800.53 standards. CGS offers a collaborative environment that encourages professional growth and innovation in government solutions.

• Reviewing systems for security vulnerabilities and recommending improvements
• Managing organizational cybersecurity risks
• Identifying and prioritizing risks, maintaining risk registries
• Providing security guidance based on NIST RMF, DoC, and local policies
• Recommending configuration management and coordinating system changes
• Maintaining compliance with vulnerability scanning tools and patch management
• Supporting security authorization activities and transition from DIACAP to RMF
• Researching and writing security assessment reports and policies

• Bachelor’s Degree
• At least 5 years of experience in roles like IA Analyst, ISSE, ISSO, with security documentation expertise
• Experience with eMASS
• Professional security certifications such as CCNA Security, CySA+, GICSP, GSEC, Security+ CE, SSCP, or higher
• Strong skills in Microsoft Word and Excel

• CISSP, CASP, or similar certification
• Master’s Degree in Cybersecurity or related field
• Strong organizational and analytical skills, ability to work independently and in teams
