Senior Site Reliability Engineer

Optomi, in partnership with our client, are seeking a Senior/Principal-level SRE with a strong software engineering background. Ideal candidates started their careers in application development (Java preferred) and transitioned into SRE, combining hands‑on coding expertise with reliability engineering best practices.

This is not an infrastructure-focused Dev Ops role. We are specifically seeking an engineer with deep application development experience who has evolved into Site Reliability Engineering

Hybrid onsite in Detroit 3 days a week. 8 month+ contract with possibility to extend/convert. USC/GCH holders only.

• 5+ years of SRE experience supporting large-scale production environments.
• Strong application development background with Java, Spring Boot, REST APIs, and microservices.
• Experience building and supporting cloud-native applications in AWS.
• Hands‑on expertise with CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Ansible, Python), and Dev Sec Ops .
• Experience with observability platforms such as Splunk and Dynatrace.
• Strong understanding of SLI/SLO/SLA frameworks, incident response, performance tuning, and system reliability.
• Ability to partner closely with engineering teams to improve application reliability throughout the SDLC.
