Overview
Azure Solutions Architect
- Full-time Job Opportunity - CLIENT Will Pay for Relocation. NO C2C
- Must be able to work without sponsorship - US Citizen only. Our Client is building out its Microsoft Azure and Microsoft 365 GCC High environment and needs an experienced architect to own it going forward.
This is a permanent role on a lean, hands-on IT team, everyone, up to the director, works directly in the environment. The company will remain a hybrid (cloud and on-prem) shop for the foreseeable future, so a deep understanding of how the two worlds connect is central to the job. The work also opens into the company's early-stage AI adoption: getting the environment ready so the team can build AI solutions, applications, and tools on top of it.
WhatYou'll Do
- Hybrid connectivity:
Manage how the Azure cloud network communicates with the on-prem network, how connections are made, and how data flows between them. - Landing zone ownership:
Navigate, manage, and govern the GCC High Azure landing zone; design scalable solutions that align with multiple departments' roadmaps. - Data and storage architecture:
Define how data flows, where it is stored, and how applications connect to data and storage across cloud and on-prem. - Backup, HA and DR:
Design and manage backup, high availability, disaster recovery, and resiliency strategies for mission-critical systems. - Migration:
Lead on-prem to Azure migration (re-host, re-platform, re-architect) and plan post-migration roadmaps to resolve legacy on-prem application issues; near-term work includes moving file shares to SharePoint and expanding the data footprint. - Evaluate and fix:
Assess the overall configuration, identify problems, and resolve issues when something isn't working. - Security tooling:
Support the deployment of M365 security tools, including on-prem device agents that report back to the cloud, and understand the security posture overlaying the architecture (including IAM). - AI enablement:
Help manage the Azure AI environment and tooling (LLMs and related services) to support the company's AI roadmap. - Compliance:
Ensure solutions meet regulatory and security standards (FAR, DFARS, ITAR, CMMC), working with the internal security team on governance, tagging, and policy compliance.
The single most important thing is real, hands-on experience: someone who has lived and breathed these environments and can answer pointed, specific technical questions, not just speak at a high level.
• 5+ years of hands-on Azure architecture experience in real production environments.
• Strong command of how Azure components fit together: networking, identity, compute, storage, governance, and monitoring.
• Demonstrated understanding of hybrid cloud-to-on-prem connectivity and data flow (Azure VMs, gateway and VPN tunnels, attached storage).
• Proven track record executing on-prem to Azure migrations for legacy applications and workloads.
• Solid grasp of cloud security, IAM best practices, and what good and bad look like from a security perspective.
• Self-directed go-getter and team player, comfortable operating with minimal oversight on a lean team.
Nice to Have- Hands-on Microsoft 365 GCC High experience (strong commercial-Azure candidates willing to learn GCC High will be considered).
- Familiarity with Azure migration tooling (Azure Migrate, ASR, Database Migration Service).
- Working knowledge of how Power BI and Duo connect to on-prem (hands-on not required).
- Certifications such as Azure Solutions Architect Expert (AZ-305) or Azure Dev Ops Engineer Expert – valued, but hands-on experience is preferred over certifications.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, IT, or equivalent experience.
