General SummaryA Business Intelligence (BI) Analyst is a data‑driven professional who uses healthcare, engineering, and operational data to help leaders make informed decisions. At Henry Ford Health (HFH), the BI Analyst supports departmental and organizational goals by gathering, analyzing, and visualizing data, producing actionable insights to improve patient care, quality, operational efficiency, and strategic performance. The BI Analyst collaborates with stakeholders to clarify requirements, identifies & selects appropriate data sources, applies data storytelling techniques to communicate findings, and ensures reporting accuracy in alignment with healthcare regulations.
This role focuses on developing operational understanding, enhancing foundational analytic skills, understanding key performance indicators, and building the ability to translate data into meaningful business intelligence.
- Data Gathering & Preparation:
Collect data from approved sources, validate accuracy, and prepare for analysis. - Analysis & Visualization:
Use SQL and BI tools (Power BI, Tableau, Excel) to query databases, develop business decision models, and create dashboards. - Reporting & Communication:
Develop reports and analyses, present findings, and communicate results and recommendations clearly to stakeholders. - Problem‑Solving:
Identify business issues, support root‑cause analysis, and collaborate on solutions. Support ad‑hoc analyses, including deep dives to explain performance changes. - Performance Monitoring:
Develop monitoring tools and frameworks for KPIs and operational metrics. - Project & Request Management:
Under mentorship and guidance from senior team members, participate meaningfully in key projects of moderate complexity to drive results. - Compliance & Governance:
Ensure data integrity and adherence to governance standards. - Collaboration:
Work collaboratively with key stakeholders, team members, and leaders to generate actionable insights that support decision‑making. - Documentation:
Record data flows and maintain process documentation. - Knowledge Building:
Participate in training, webinars, and continuous learning opportunities.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Analytics, Statistics, Industrial/Systems Engineering, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 2 years of experience in data analytics, reporting, or business intelligence preferred.
- Proficiency in SQL, Excel, and at least one BI visualization tool (Power BI, Tableau).
- Strong analytical and engineering problem‑solving skills.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Detail‑oriented, with strong commitment to accuracy and data integrity.
Must meet or exceed core customer service responsibilities, standards and behaviors as outlined in the Henry Ford Health Customer Service Policy.
Physical Demands/Working ConditionsNormal office environment with minimal exposure to noise, dust, or extreme temperatures.
