Senior Azure Cloud Architect; Hybrid

This role is based in Detroit, Michigan, and follows a hybrid work model, requiring in-office presence three days per week.
Additionally, Due to the requirements for this role, we are unable to sponsor work visas for this position. Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.

As a Senior Cloud Architect, you will work embedded on one of our client teams in the energy space. You will play a critical role in leading a next-generation cloud modernization initiative using the Azure platform supporting mission‑critical internal applications. These systems are essential to operational resiliency, including applications used for grid management and storm response.

In this role you will design and implement resilient cloud architectures using Azure, lead complex application migrations, and help transition and streamline large internal applications to Azure cloud services.

• 10+ Years experience architecting, designing, and implementing enterprise cloud solutions
• 5+ years experience working with enterprise cloud solutions in Azure (required)
• Project experience and knowledge around infrastructure-as-code (Terraform preferred)
• Experience leading or contributing to production-scale application migrations to the cloud
• Experience designing high‑availability, fault‑tolerant, and disaster recovery architectures
• Understanding of CI/CD pipelines and automation tools (e.g., Azure Dev Ops, Git Hub Actions, Git Lab CI, Jenkins)
• Understanding of cloud networking, security, identity, and access management
• Familiarity with monitoring, logging, performance testing, and observability tooling
• Experience designing systems that support operationally critical or high‑resiliency environments
• Ability to independently solve complex technical problems without heavy oversight
• Comfortable working in a small, senior‑level team focused on delivery and ownership
• Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across distributed teams

• Design and implement resilient cloud architectures for existing enterprise applications, with a focus on scalability, reliability, security, and cost efficiency
• Architect solutions capable of handling high‑traffic and failure scenarios, particularly for operationally critical systems
• Improve availability, disaster recovery, and overall system resiliency across migrated applications
• Build and maintain infrastructure using infrastructure-as-code (e.g., Terraform, ARM, Bicep)
• Ensure applications are fully automated and not dependent on manual console‑based operations
• Collaborate closely with developers, Cloud engineers SREs, Dev Ops engineers, QA, and stakeholders to align architecture with business and operational needs
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex cloud platform challenges, including deep technical issues that may require vendor collaboration
• Create and contribute to architecture documentation, diagrams, and technical standards
• Help build internal cloud capability through knowledge transfer and strong engineering leadership

• The salary range for this role is from $220,000 - $230,000 commensurate with experience.
