RESRG Automotive is seeking you to join our team as a Program Purchasing Buyer in our Tory, Michigan facility!
Your JobThe Program Purchasing Buyer is responsible for executing all direct material purchasing activities for assigned customer programs from RFQ through end-of-life. Operating within a customer program delivery team structure, this role works closely with Engineering, Program Management, Manufacturing, Sales, and Category Strategy to ensure sourcing execution aligns with program timing, cost targets, and commercial objectives.
The Program Buyer supports the Manager of Direct Purchasing by delivering program sourcing plans, executing cost and value initiatives, managing supplier performance, and ensuring category strategies are effectively deployed at the program level across a $250 million+ direct material spend portfolio. This role requires strong execution discipline, commercial acumen, and the ability to operate cross-functionally in a fast-paced automotive environment.
What you Will do in Your Role Program Sourcing & Execution- Own direct material sourcing activities for assigned customer programs from RFQ through SOP and ongoing production.
- Execute program sourcing plans to achieve cost, quality, timing, and launch readiness targets.
- Support new program launches by ensuring supplier selection, tooling sourcing, and commercial agreements are completed in alignment with program milestones.
- Manage open commercial issues and ensure supplier commitments align with program and customer requirements.
- Serve as the purchasing representative on customer program teams, partnering closely with Program Management, Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, and Sales.
- Ensure program-level sourcing decisions align with category strategies and cross-program objectives.
- Develop and maintain effective working relationships with direct material suppliers.
- Lead supplier commercial negotiations, including piece price, tooling, long-term agreements, and commercial change management.
- Monitor supplier performance across cost, delivery, quality, and responsiveness; proactively identify and elevate risks.
- Support supplier development and collaboration initiatives focused on innovation, performance improvement, and value creation.
- Deliver current-year cost reduction and production performance improvement initiatives aligned with category and program strategies.
- Manage program-related cost changes, including engineering changes, volume adjustments, and commercial recoveries.
- Create, manage, and maintain purchase orders, pricing agreements, and sourcing documentation within ERP and purchasing systems.
- Maintain accurate records of sourcing decisions, contracts, and supplier agreements in accordance with company policies.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Engineering or a related field
- 2-4 years of experience in purchasing, sourcing, or supply chain
- Strong negotiation skills and experience managing supplier commercial relationships
- Proven ability to manage multiple programs and competing priorities
- Strong analytical skills
- ERP/MRP system experience preferred
- Automotive experience:
Tier 1 or Tier 2 manufacturing processes and materials - Experience working within a matrixed or program based organization
- Experience supporting new program launches in APQP-driven environments
