LG Chem, one of the largest science and chemical companies in the world, offers a 12‑month entry‑level Logistics Internship in Troy, MI. The program provides international exposure in creating sales and purchase orders, preparing shipping documents, inventory management, monitoring shipment status, and supporting sales activities.
What You’ll Be Doing Essential Functions- Submit Sales and Purchase Orders to HQ and monitor cargo movement and shipping updates in SAP.
- Prepare required shipping documents for customs purposes.
- Coordinate inbound operations with ocean import forwarders.
- Manage outbound operations and inventory with 3PL vendors.
- Support insurance claims for damaged materials and follow through to resolution.
- Prepare, review, and audit all data entry for month‑end closing.
- Prepare month‑end inventory reports for each 3PL account.
- Constantly monitor shipment status and provide tentative delivery dates daily.
- Maintain a professional relationship with customers, providing inventory, delivery, and invoice status via e‑mail, CRM, or web conference.
- Coordinate with other departments for 3PL contracts, statement of account reports, inventory forecasts, and commission reports.
- Assist the Team Leader and groups on projects as needed.
- Support traveling sales managers.
- Follow up on customer payments and collect past‑due accounts if required.
- Oversee company vehicle documentation, schedule, and drop‑off for general maintenance.
- Perform routine office operations and provide administrative support.
- Support general housekeeping for shared office space, including cleanliness and maintenance checks.
- Handle Fed Ex tasks, including preparing shipping labels, receiving incoming packages, and distributing them to the local team.
Education: Bachelor’s degree required in Supply Chain Management, International Trade, or Economics.
Experience: 0–1 year of work experience in logistics operations, including transportation and warehousing processes and vendor sourcing. Prior internships during undergraduate studies are acceptable.
- Knowledge of customs, duty, import/export processes is a plus.
- Experience with forecasting tools and advanced Excel skills highly preferred.
- Strong communication and coordination skills.
- Valid U.S. driver’s license required.
