AboutThe Role
Amrize, a leading supplier of quality construction building materials in the United States, has immediate openings for a Lab Technician at the Presque Isle, MI Quarry. A Lab Technician is responsible for testing and inspecting materials to ensure they meet required specifications and industry standards. Also to collect samples, perform lab and field tests, and document results to maintain consistent product quality.
WhatYou'll Accomplish
- Collect aggregate samples from the quarry and stockpiles
- Record, analyze, and report test results accurately
- Ensure materials meet quality and industry specifications
- Maintain and calibrate lab testing equipment
- Perform routine testing of aggregate samples (quartering samples, running gradations, washes, moistures, and picking deleterious). Enter data into the aggregate quality reporting system
- Calibrating lab equipment
- Loading ships with spec products
- Filling in with Dozer relief
- Basic understanding of control charts
- Follow safety and quality control procedures
- Communicate results and issues with production and management teams
- Education:
High school diploma or equivalent - Field of Study Preferred:
Construction materials, or a related laboratory science field - Required
Work Experience:
Two-year technical degree required or five years in QC testing of construction materials in lieu of education. Four-year college degree preferred. - Experience working as a lab technician or in a quality control role (preferred)
- Knowledge of aggregate testing methods and industry standards
- Strong attention to detail and accurate record-keeping skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Basic computer skills for data entry and reporting
- Willingness to work outdoors and in a quarry environment
- Understanding of safety procedures and regulations
- Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Amrize approved Personal Protection Equipment ("PPE"), including but not limited to respirators. Employees that are required to wear respirators must be clean shaven where the respirator seal meets the face in order to pass the qualitative and quantitative fit tests.
