Roastery​/Technician Lead

James Oliver is a second generation coffee roastery located in Detroit. James oliver has 5 locations as well as a robust wholesale program serving some of Metro Detroits best restaurants and cafes.

This is a full-time on-site role based in the Detroit Metropolitan Area for a Roastery / Technician Lead. The role involves overseeing daily roasting operations, maintaining and repairing coffee equipment, and ensuring high-quality coffee production. Responsibilities include managing parts inventory, coordinating with the production team, and ensuring safety and compliance standards are met. The Roastery / Technician Lead will also be responsible for troubleshooting equipment issues, scheduling maintenance, and training team members on equipment handling and safety procedures.

• Experience in coffee roasting, knowledge of roasting profiles, and an understanding of flavor development
• Skills in equipment maintenance, repair, troubleshooting, and mechanical aptitude
• Strong leadership and team coordination abilities
• Familiarity with inventory management and production scheduling
• Excellent attention to detail, organizational, and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines
• Previous experience in a coffee roastery or related field preferred
• Flexible to work on-site in the Detroit Metropolitan Area
• Relevant technical certifications or training in equipment maintenance would be an advantage
