Job Description

Job Title: Journeyman Maintenance Technician

Location: Detroit, MI

Pay: $38+/hr. based on experience

Shift: Weekend Shift (Friday-Saturday: 6 AM - 4:30 PM | Sunday-Monday: 6 PM - 4:30 AM)

Job Overview:

The Journeyman Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, electrical, and general maintenance repairs across the facility. This role focuses on diagnosing issues, maintaining production equipment, and ensuring safe, efficient operation throughout the plant.

Responsibilities:

  • Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems using schematics and technical drawings.
  • Repair injection molding equipment, fixtures, systems, conveyors, and additional plant equipment.
  • Modify, lubricate, diagnose, and operate injection molding machinery.
  • Maintain industrial control systems and support continuous equipment uptime.
  • Work independently and collaboratively to complete repairs safely and on schedule.
  • Document all repairs, complete shift reports, and record parts/material usage.
  • Follow all plant safety guidelines, including safe lifting practices and proper machine operation.
  • Use required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times.

Qualifications:

  • Journeyman’s License/Certification REQUIRED – No Exceptions (UAW Journeyman Cards accepted)
  • 4+ years of experience in machine repair or industrial maintenance.
  • Strong knowledge of hydraulics, mechanical systems, pneumatics, electrical systems, and servo motors.
  • Experience with industrial machinery, especially injection molding equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret schematics, drawings, and technical documentation.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; able to interact professionally with all levels of the organization.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
