Material Handler

Overview

Material Handler — Full Time position in Detroit, MI. Second shift: 5:00 PM – 3:30 AM. Pay: $16.00 per hour.

• Move material through the facility using material handling equipment (e.g., forklift, pallet jack, hand carts, hoists, cranes) as required. Load materials into vehicles and install strapping, bracing, or padding to prevent shifting or damage in transit. Use tablets to dispense and receive information such as part numbers, quantities, locations, and comments.
• Convey materials from storage or work sites to designated areas. Attach identifying tags or labels to materials or mark information on cases, bales, or other containers. Properly document work performed. Conduct material audits.

• Must be at least 18 years of age. Legally eligible to work in the United States.
• Successfully complete pre-employment drug screen, physical, and background check, including a previous employment check and criminal history.
• High school diploma or GED and zero to four years of previous experience. Preferred: high school diploma or GED plus additional or specialized training, and zero to four years of prior experience.

• Requires use of motor coordination with arm, hand, finger, and leg dexterity.
• Requires exerting physical effort in handling objects up to 50 lbs frequently.
• Requires pushing, pulling, bending, twisting, and lifting up to 50 lbs.
• Facility is a material recycling environment; conditions may reflect heat or cold.
• Exposure to dirt, odors, and noise for most of the workday.
