** Position Summary
-1ST. SHIFT
** This is a union bargaining-unit position responsible for setting up, programming, and operating CNC horizontal and vertical mills to produce precision-machined parts to blueprint and GD&T specifications. The Mechanic works under the applicable collective bargaining agreement and is expected to perform all essential duties safely, accurately, and efficiently.##
** Essential Duties and Responsibilities
*** Set up and run CNC horizontal and vertical mills, as well as boring mills, to produce parts meeting print and quality requirements.
* Read and interpret blueprints and apply Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) principles.
* Perform some editing of G-code and M-code programs at the machine control to adjust offsets, tooling, and cutting parameters.
* Select, install, and adjust tooling, fixtures, and work-holding for horizontal, vertical, and boring mill operations.
* Inspect in-process and finished parts using precision measuring instruments to verify conformance to specifications.
* Demonstrate safe work habits and maintain a clean, organized work area at all times.
* Perform routine machine maintenance and report equipment issues promptly.
* Perform other related duties as assigned.##

** Education and Experience
*** High School Diploma or GED required.
* Two or more years of CNC experience, preferably on horizontal and vertical mills and/or boring mills.##

* Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
* Interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, verbal, diagram, or schedule form.##

*** Apply mathematical skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division, as well as basic algebra.##
** Other Skills
*** Detail oriented.
