About Built From The Block
Built From The Block (BFTB) is a Detroit-based apparel brand founded by Corey Johnson and led operationally by Tammy Black, COO.
Our mission is to build a confidence-driven brand designed for every culture, every body, and every voice.
We are currently preparing for upcoming seasonal product drops (hoodies, T‑shirts, hats) and are seeking a motivated student to support content creation, growth strategy, and brand expansion.
Position OverviewThe Content & Growth Partner will work directly with the Founder and COO to support marketing strategy, digital growth, and seasonal drop campaigns.
This role is ideal for a marketing, communications, digital media, or business student seeking real‑world brand‑building experience with measurable impact.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and execute social media content strategies
- Assist with seasonal drop marketing campaigns
- Create and manage content calendars
- Draft captions and short‑form marketing copy
- Support photo and video content planning
- Track engagement, reach, and conversion metrics
- Analyze campaign performance and provide growth recommendations
- Identify potential influencers or community partnerships
- Assist with brand storytelling initiatives
- Strong understanding of Instagram, Tik Tok, and emerging platforms
- Basic knowledge of social media analytics
- Ability to think strategically about audience growth
- Strong written communication skills
- Organized and deadline‑driven
- Comfortable working in a startup‑style environment
- Self‑motivated with ability to work independently
- Experience running or managing a social media account
- Basic graphic design knowledge (Canva, Adobe, Cap Cut, etc.)
- Experience with short‑form video editing
- Familiarity with streetwear or apparel branding
- Understanding of drop‑based marketing
- Currently enrolled at Wayne State University
- Junior, Senior, or Graduate student preferred
- Major in Marketing, Communications, Digital Media, Business, or related field
- Ability to commit 8–12 hours per week
- Available to attend virtual or occasional in‑person strategy meetings
- Real‑world brand growth experience
- Direct collaboration with founders
- Hands‑on campaign strategy execution
- Portfolio‑level marketing experience
- Exposure to apparel and product launch marketing
