Job Summary
Urban Neighborhood Initiatives seeks a Success Coach to work in our Leaders In Training, a Year‑Round Youth Employment readiness program. The Success Coach is responsible for the case management of youth ages 14-24 who live in the Spring wells neighborhood of southwest Detroit. He/She will work one-on-one and in group settings to support the youth in developing academic and employment plans. The Success Coach will connect youth to supportive services as needed, and connect youth to programming at UNI that aligns with their long‑term employment and education success goals.
Additionally, the Success Coach is responsible for tracking and reporting individual outcomes and progress.
- Participate in outreach and recruitment activities, events, and initiatives.
- To ensure that the youth's needs are met, coordinate services with schools, hospitals, child protective agencies, mental health centers, homeless shelters, and other organizations.
- Making referrals to appropriate community resources such as shelters, food banks, or legal aid offices.
- Track attendance of all programmatic and case management components.
- Verify and organize necessary paperwork and ensure documentation and tracking are in compliance.
- Support youth in securing bank accounts, direct deposit, and financial education.
- Assist with the coordination of employment readiness‑related events.
- Attend relevant team, organization, and community meetings.
- Maintain positive relationships with education and employment partners, youth, families, staff, and supervisors.
- exploration events, college prep events, and workshops.
- Provide ongoing, in‑depth Case Management support for youth in the program.
- Co‑create detailed, achievable goals and plans with each participant and regularly monitor progress.
- Support summer and long‑term employment for participants through resume and cover letter review, and by working closely with the Youth Employment Coordinator to connect youth to individual coaching for job and internship opportunities.
- Build effective relationships with teachers, counselors, and staff at local schools and work collaboratively with school staff to support academic performance, test prep, and college applications.
- Support with facilitation and creation of work readiness and life skills workshops.
- Experience working with youth ages 14-24 in workforce development or other youth development area.
- Additional preference is given to those prior participants in UNI’s programming.
- Experience with design, coordination, and facilitation of workshops.
- Must have a valid driver’s license and personal transportation for travel to meetings, events, college campuses, etc.
- Must be able to work evenings, and occasionally overnight and on weekends.
- Must have demonstrable written and oral communication skills.
- Bilingual in Spanish and English is strongly preferred.

$40,000-$45,000 Commensurate with experience with benefits including health care coverage, PTO (personal time off), and paid holidays.
