About HAND
Since 1996, the Homeless Action Network of Detroit (HAND) has served as the region’s leading resource for solutions to homelessness. We help to make ending homelessness a reality by securing funding, analyzing data, and driving change in our community. Known as the Continuum of Care (CoC) Lead, in the last three years, HAND has secured over $280 million in federal funds to be administered by local agencies and has coordinated the only comprehensive database on homelessness in Detroit.
Responsibilities- Attend and take detailed notes during PSH Development Review Committee meetings.
- Prepare and distribute meeting summaries and action items.
- Assist in drafting and formatting project documentation, including project summaries and compliance checklists.
- Support the preparation of materials for funding applications and stakeholder communications.
- Build and update Smartsheet dashboards for project tracking.
- Input and validate data related to LIHTC project timelines and compliance.
- Generate reports and visualizations for internal and external stakeholders.
Job Requirements
- Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a program in Urban Planning, Public Administration, Social Work, Public Policy, or a related field.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to take clear and concise meeting notes.
- Demonstrated understanding of community coordination and stakeholder engagement practices.
- Ability to interpret and apply public policy and housing regulations in a practical context.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; familiarity with Smartsheet or other project management tools is a plus.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks in a hybrid work environment.
- Interest in affordable housing, homelessness systems, or community development.

October 27, 2025 – December 31, 2025
• Time Commitment: 20 hours per week
