Summary

Under the guidance of the Market Education Director, the Nursing Educator collaborates with facility/market nursing leadership and staff to assess, plan, develop, implement, facilitate, evaluate and revise educational programming for all levels of nursing and non-nursing personnel as requested.

The educator acts as a key resource in orientation and continuing education of nursing staff and administers a comprehensive education program for assigned units while aligning with Tenet educational goals and vision. Educational programs include orientation, continuing education and in-services, with additional services such as process improvement, performance improvement, and service-delivery consultation as appropriate.

Major Responsibilities Clinical Education
  • Supports the educational needs for assigned units/clinics including classroom, clinical experiences and learning technologies.
  • Implements Tenet comprehensive education programs to meet orientation, ongoing competency, and professional development needs of nursing staff, tailored to assigned units/clinics.
  • Ensures programs meet Department of Nursing and regulatory standards; adheres to education practice standards and current nursing education research.
  • Provides consultation to enhance continuing education, professional development and mentorship opportunities.
  • Delivers/coordin ates educational programs (e.g., Grand Rounds, in-services, continuing education, job-specific curricula) to support competence and growth of Tenet nursing staff.
  • Provides leadership to preceptors and serves as a role model through coaching and mentoring.
  • Facilitates nurse resident growth and actively mentors in professional practice.
  • Participates in continuing education provider unit learning and evaluates activities for continuing education credit.
  • Keeps abreast of market/facility policy changes and educator expectations.
  • Assists in the development of clinical policies and procedures as requested.
  • Provides guidance and resources for professional growth; mentors colleagues, students and staff as appropriate.
  • Participates in quality/performance improvement activities and performs other duties as assigned.
Emergency Services
  • Supports services including trauma, security, respiratory, EEG as assigned.
Projects
  • TNCC, behavioral competencies, trauma programs (if a Trauma Coordinator is available), annual competency requirements, security collaboration and escalation training.

ALL DUTIES AND REQUIREMENTS MUST BE PERFORMED CONSISTENT WITH TENET HEALTHCARE PERFORMANCE STANDARDS

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing or Nursing Education or related specialty
  • 3 years nursing experience in an acute care ED setting preferred
  • Current State Licenses & Certifications (ACLS, PALS and TNCC)
