Position: Registered Nurse - Operating Room - 40 Hours - Rotating Shift

Registered Nurse - Operating Room - 40 Hours - Rotating Shift

  • Provides leadership in the coordination and delivery of quality compassionate patient care.
  • Utilizes the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation, to provide, delegate, supervise and document care and teaching of patients and family.
  • Effectively communicates pertinent patient/family information to health care team.
  • Participates in finding solutions for variances from patient goals and ensures implementation of solutions.
  • Deliver professional nursing care in the operative setting to patients undergoing surgical or other invasive procedures.
  • Perform scrub functions including the selection and handling of instruments and supplies used during procedure.
  • Perform circulating functions including monitoring, recording and communicating patient condition and managing overall nursing care of patient before, during and after procedure .
  • Directly assist operating physician with surgical tasks including hemostasis, suturing and wound exposure as well as patient positioning.
  • Prepare operating rooms and surgical instruments and equipment for use.

POSITION SUMMARY:

  • Henry Ford Providence Hospital - Southfield
  • 8-Hour or 10-Hour Day Shifts
  • Occasional weekend, holiday and on call shifts

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

REQUIRED:

  • BSN preferred.
  • Graduation from an accredited school of nursing.
  • Clinical knowledge and analytical abilities necessary to formulate effective nursing care plans.
  • Ability to perform a wide variety of professional nursing services.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with patients, families, and hospital personnel.
  • 2-years of previous OR experience highly preferred.

CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURES

REQUIRED:

  • Current licensure by the Michigan State Board of Nursing.
