Nurse Educator Ambulatory Nursing and Quality (Full-Time) Days-Detroit
This position is responsible for collaborative assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation or consultation on educational activities to develop, maintain, and enhance clinical, educational, and leadership skills of nursing and nursing assistive personnel.
Monday-Friday 8-hour shifts
Principal Duties and Responsibilities- Collaborates with Nurse Managers, DCOs, Clinical Coordinators, educators and staff to assess the learning needs and competencies.
- Develops, implements and evaluates educational plans/programs for area utilizing adult teaming theory.
- Develops and utilizes methods, measurements and tools to evaluate achievement of learning goals.
- Provides direction and role modeling for staff.
- Participates and provides continuity/consistency from general to area unit specific orientation.
- Serves as an educational consultant for unit staff.
- Participates in development, coordination and presentation and evaluation of mandatory educational activities.
- Demonstrates current theoretical and clinical knowledge for assigned area.
- Develops, revises, and processes policies and procedures for education related activities to improve clinical competencies of nursing staff.
- Supports and actualizes the goals of nursing unit(s) while participating in continuous quality improvement and risk management.
- Participates/leads assigned committees or groups including but not limited to:
Area meetings, Nurse Council and Nurse Practice Committee. - Assists with development, implementation and monitoring compliance with clinical paths/protocols, and patient education materials.
- Personal interaction:
Daily contacts are made with nursing staff. Frequent interaction with Clinical Nurse Manager and Director, Clinical Operations (DCO), CNSs, other educators, non-nursing department managers and staff, and physicians.
- RN with Bachelor's Degree in nursing (BSN).
- RN with Master's Degree in nursing or education preferred.
- Three years clinical nursing experience is required.
- RN license in State of Michigan without restrictions.
- Professional certification in specialty area, staff development or nursing education preferred.
