Overview
Villa At Great Lakes Crossing is seeking a Director of Nursing RN to join their team! The Director of Nursing RN is responsible for the planning, organization, direction, supervision, and evaluation of all nursing services provided in the facility. The role ensures compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, implements company nursing core programs, oversees orientation and training of nursing personnel, and manages budget.
Responsibilities- Manages nursing staff, schedules breaks, reassigns employees, writes performance reviews, and enforces policies with coaching and corrective action.
- Recruitment, training, clinical orientation, supervision, scheduling, time‑card, and personnel issue management in the nursing department.
- Collaborates with Medical Consultants and the Administrator to select potential new admissions and assess resident needs for admission, retention, and discharge.
- Manages the nursing department budget and provides budgeting information to the Administrator regarding equipment and staffing.
- Completes daily facility rounds to ensure compliance with policies, procedures, and regulations.
- Plans staff development programs with the Administrator to enhance care quality.
- Ensures timely completion of each resident’s/patient’s RAI/IPOC process.
- Maintains licensure status for all nursing employees.
- Works with regional personnel to continuously improve resident/patient care quality.
- Available 24‑hour on‑call for nursing emergencies; if unavailable, designates an approved registered nurse.
- Oversees records, monitoring, and evaluation of essential nursing programs.
- Attends seminars to stay current with Medicare/Medicaid, IDPH guidelines.
- Mentors nursing leaders and prepares for succession planning.
- Enforces Abuse & Neglect policies and maintains confidentiality of resident/patient information.
- Adheres to HIPAA requirements for privacy and security of protected health information and reports violations.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- CPR trained and hold current BLS certification.
- Strong management skills, including delegation, performance management, conflict management, and leading others.
- Financial and management skills.
- Ability to adapt to a flexible work schedule and occasional overnight travel.
- Effective communication with diverse audiences; emotional situations, resource management, assessment of operational, staffing, fiscal needs; analyzes complex documents; works long and irregular hours.
- Proficient in reading, writing, speaking, and understanding English.
- Basic computer knowledge and proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint).
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited School of Nursing (BSN preferred).
- Current RN license in the required state.
- Prefer at least three years of previous Director of Nursing experience.
- Walking, reaching, bending, lifting, extended sitting, grasping, fine hand coordination, pushing, pulling, distinguishing smells and temperatures (with or without mechanical assistance).
- Travel up to 10%.
- Limited potential for exposure to environmental hazards; must understand and adhere to company safety standards and protocols.
