Detroit Medical Center is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) Clinical Coordinator, Med Surg for a nursing job in Detroit, Michigan.
Up to $25,000 Sign on Bonus, based on relevant experience
Job Summary:
In addition to the staff nurse role, the Clinical Coordinator assumes shift responsibilities for the care delivery team. Duties include coordinating the provision of care through assigning and scheduling staff, prioritizing, delegating, and evaluating patient care; assisting in process improvement activities; collaborating with the interdisciplinary team to solve unit-based issues; providing input into nursing staff performance appraisals; assisting with staff educational requirements;
participating in unit and hospital activities; and demonstrating commitment to personal and professional goals. The role supplements staffing under direction of the Administrative Director and/or Clinical Manager and includes an abbreviated patient care assignment to fulfill leadership responsibilities.
- Functions as lead and resource person for nursing personnel.
- Assists clinical manager in planning and facilitating staff meetings and development.
- Monitors the schedule to assure adequate nurse‑patient ratio, reviewing monthly schedules and communicating with staffing office for changes.
- Facilitates shared decision making among staff and improves unit throughput to shorten length of stay.
- Coordinates in‑service programs to maintain/enhance staff competence based on identified patient care needs.
- May assist manager with interview, selection, retention, mentoring, and evaluation of staff.
- Participates in development of policies, procedures, and standards for the department.
- Assists with department process improvement and peer review.
- Associates Degree/Diploma required; BSN preferred.
- Licensed Registered Nurse in Michigan.
- One to two years of progressively responsible experience with demonstrated leadership ability.
- Ability to prioritize work, delegate, and facilitate processes.
- Minimum Level 6 of the Promoting Excellence Performance Criteria; internal candidates preferred.
- BLS required; ACLS preferred.
