The Infection Control Nurse specializes in identifying, controlling, and preventing outbreaks of infection. This position will assist in modifying the treatment regimen to meet the physical and psychosocial needs of residents. The Infection Control nurse provides the essential Infection Control orientation for all new staff, as well as coordination of continuing education, and planning and providing facility-wide in-service programs for current employees.

- Must be a graduate from an accredited school of nursing with an Associate's or Bachelor's Degree, or higher.
- License to practice as a Registered Nurse RN in the State of Michigan; current CPR certification.
- At least 2-3 years of experience as a Registered Nurse in an acute or extended care facility.

- Develop and revise infection control policies and procedures.
- Investigate suspected outbreaks of infection.
- Provide consultation on infection risk assessment, prevention, and control strategies.
- Keep abreast of trends and developments in the area of extended care facility patient care techniques; follow federal and state skilled nursing facility regulations.
- Coordinate and present general facility new hire orientation programs to all new employees
- Develop & deliver clinical orientation and training for new nursing team members including classroom training on specific nursing policies, procedures, and techniques; observing, assisting and assessing new team members performance; and ensure new members are equipped with the skills necessary to be successful in their new roles.
- Research, design, and implement in-service programs on topics requested to reinforce operational policies/procedures, introduce new techniques, and/or address identified areas of deficiency.
Full time position. Certifications required: CPR-BLS Certification.
