NP - Emergency Medicine Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Emergency Medicine Advanced Practice Provider (APP) to join our dynamic Emergency Department team. The APP will work collaboratively with emergency physicians, nursing staff, and multidisciplinary healthcare professionals to provide high-quality, evidence-based care to patients presenting with acute illnesses and injuries. This role requires strong clinical decision-making skills, the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment, and a commitment to exceptional patient care.
Job Responsibilities- Evaluate, diagnose, and treat patients presenting with a wide range of acute and emergent medical conditions.
- Obtain comprehensive patient histories and perform physical examinations.
- Order, interpret, and analyze diagnostic studies, including laboratory tests, EKGs, and imaging.
- Develop and implement treatment plans in collaboration with supervising physicians as appropriate.
- Perform emergency procedures within scope of practice and credentialing, including:
- Laceration repair
- Incision and drainage
- Splinting and fracture management
- Foreign body removal
- Wound care
- Joint injections and aspirations
- Initiate and manage emergency interventions for critically ill and injured patients.
- Coordinate patient care, consultations, admissions, transfers, and discharges.
- Provide patient and family education regarding diagnoses, treatment plans, medications, and follow‑up care.
- Accurately document patient encounters in the electronic medical record (EMR).
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and departmental performance goals.
- Maintain compliance with hospital policies, state regulations, and accreditation standards.
- Nurse Practitioner (NP)
- Master's or Doctorate degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program.
- Current state licensure as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN).
- National certification as:
- Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP)
- Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (AGACNP)
- Emergency Nurse Practitioner (ENP) preferred
- DEA registration and controlled substance certification (if applicable).
- Physician Assistant (PA)
- Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program.
- Current state licensure as a Physician Assistant.
- Certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA).
- DEA registration and controlled substance certification (if applicable).
- Required Certifications
- Current BLS Certification
- Current ACLS Certification
- Current PALS Certification
- ATLS preferred
- Emergency Medicine experience preferred
