Nurse Extern II – Rehabilitation

OverviewThe Nurse Extern II (NE II) is a key member of the patient care services team, responsible for technical, multi‑skilled direct and indirect patient care activities. The NE II works under the supervision of a registered nurse (RN) who delegates tasks based on patient needs and the NE II’s skills and abilities. The NE II reports any deviations from expected patient parameters to the RN and participates in the assigned clinical area under guidance and ongoing feedback.
Responsibilities- Assist with activities of daily living (ADLs) for patients.
- Take vital signs and monitor patient conditions.
- Support ambulation and transfer of patients as needed.
- Perform duties within the scope of a patient care technician or equivalent.
- Work closely with an experienced RN each shift for instruction and mentorship.
- Report all deviations from expected patient parameters to the RN.
- Adapt to a wide variety of patient care tasks that may vary in type and frequency across units or service lines.
- Can apply starting six months before graduation from an accredited nursing school.
- Must pass all senior courses required to remain in the nursing program.
